My Masters in Publishing - A Review

About a month ago it was finally time to say: Finished!! I handed in my dissertation and with it my final piece of work for my masters degree. I still can't believe that soon, I won't be a student anymore. It is a weird feeling to know that after 18 years, I am now officially leaving the education system and entering the working life. While at some point, I might miss some of the freedoms the student life entails, at the moment I cannot wait to start working and making use of all the knowledge I obtained during the masters and my work experience.

First Steps in Publishing - One Semester in Cambridge

I can't believe that my first semester as a publishing student is already over. It still feels like I only started a couple of weeks ago. But at the same time, the girl who arrived at Heathrow three month ago seems to be someone else. Someone who belonged to another life, a life that is no longer mine.

FutureBook Conference 2014

As it happened, I was lucky enough to visit two publishing conferences in less than a week. Whereas the attendance of the SYP conference last Saturday was purely my own pleasure (read all about it here), my FutureBook experience was part of a two week internship with the Bookseller's marketing team. There was no better way of finishing that amazing internship than with being part of the FutureBook Conference and gaining some insights behind the scenes.

SYP Conference 2014

Last Saturday, I attended my very first conference, the annual conference of the Society of Young Publishers, in London. Basically, there was everything a soon-to-be publisher's heart desires: Inspiring talks, amazing people, food and free books.
