I can't believe that my first semester as a publishing student is already over. It still feels like I only started a couple of weeks ago. But at the same time, the girl who arrived at Heathrow three month ago seems to be someone else. Someone who belonged to another life, a life that is no longer mine.

FutureBook Conference 2014
As it happened, I was lucky enough to visit two publishing conferences in less than a week. Whereas the attendance of the SYP conference last Saturday was purely my own pleasure (read all about it here), my FutureBook experience was part of a two week internship with the Bookseller's marketing team. There was no better way of finishing that amazing internship than with being part of the FutureBook Conference and gaining some insights behind the scenes.

SYP Conference 2014
Last Saturday, I attended my very first conference, the annual conference of the Society of Young Publishers, in London. Basically, there was everything a soon-to-be publisher's heart desires: Inspiring talks, amazing people, food and free books.

Subscription is Entering the World of Books
It's one week after the last day of the fair and it seems that the Frankfurt Book Fair still has not really left my mind. One topic especially captured my attention: The model of subscription entering our world of literature.

It's that time of a year again...
When the whole (European)
book market is looking on Frankfurt, it most certainly is time for the Frankfurt Book Fair. All important people in the business are
invited to contribute to exciting discussions and to share their
views on recent developments and phenomenons. Important new
publications are displayed and significant contracts are made.

Let the Adventure Begin
My publishing adventure
began about a year ago when I did my first internship with a publishing house.
I instantly got very excited about the whole place and the wonderful
people I worked with and soaked up all information like a sponge.
After a couple of weeks, I was already sure that I wanted to pursue a
career in the publishing business. I enjoyed reading manuscripts and looking for possible translations on the foreign market. I started to care even more about commas and full stops while doing some final proofreading and I was amazed about the opportunities digitisation offers.
